Today, 23 November 2015, Secretariat partner CSOs, Al-Haq, Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, Aldameer and the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, delivered to the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, confidential communication, on behalf of Palestinian victims of Israel’s war on Gaza in the summer of 2014. The communication contains information on crimes jointly documented by Secretariat partners during and immediately after the war.

According to Al Haq organization director, Mr. Shawan Jabarain, the four organizations “believe that they provided the Office of the Prosecutor with enough information to determine that there is a reasonable basis to believe that senior Israeli military and civilian officials committed crimes against humanity, and war crimes during the offensive against Gaza”.

The Secretariat, which provided resources to the four core partners (and limited emergency funding to a number of CSOs specifically for the documentation of the human rights and IHL violations during the war), hopes this move represents meaningful and timely contribution to achieving justice and combating impunity.
