HRBA Reflection Workshops Conducted for West Bank Core and Project Grantees

The Secretariat conducted, today and yesterday, 16 and 17 September 2015, two workshops for participating Secretariat project and core grantee CSOs, in the West Bank. The workshops aimed at reflecting on the use, so far, of the HRBA orientation workshops which the Secretariat conducted during June 2015, and to give CSO representatives the opportunity to discuss their experience, challenges, and lessons learnt with fellow CSO representatives.

As well as, presenting the CSOs action plan and the secretariat capacity building plan and the future interventions.

The discussion has been very interactive and participants showed enthusiasm to share their experiences. Majority of the participants shared their views of the gaps in the internalization of the use of HRBA in their programming and CSO management, and sought guidance on how to deal with these gaps.

Despite the change participants are reporting in terms of their CSO's operations, on the internal as well as external levels, participants are clearly seeking support in drafting manuals and work policies that can assist in sustaining the use of HRBA in their respective CSOs.

During the two workshop, participants supported the coaching and capacity building plan of the Secretariat, and stated that they were willing to put their expertise and knowledge at the disposal of peer CSOs.

The Secretariat team ensured that they will follow up on the participant’s recommendation and offered individual coaching.

Participants are considering creating an electronic forum, to include all participants, to serve as a platform for sharing resources, experiences, and lessons learnt.

Of the recommendations made during the workshops, participants highlighted the need for enhanced capacity on the documentation of violations using international standards, drafting shadow reports, and streamlining HRIHL terminologies.
