10 March 2015:

The Human Rights Council (HRC) has scheduled a session on 23 March 2015, during which the United Nations Independent Commission f Inquiry (CoI) on the 2014 Gaza Conflict was to present its report to the HRC. Yesterday, 9 March 2015, the Chair of the CoI has written to the President of the HRC, asking that the Council "consider the possibility of postponing the presentation of the report" of the CoI.

In a statement issued also yesterday, the President of the Council indicated his his support for the request, which he noted was meant - per information provided by the Commissioners - to allow the Commissioners "to weigh the additional information they have received in recent weeks."

Follwing this development, the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council (PHROC) has, today 10 March 2015, issued a statement to the press (in Arabic), in which it expressed alarm at the possible deferral until June 2015 of the report of the CoI, and urged the conclusion of the CoI mission without delay.

PHROC urged the CoI to try, once again, to reach the oPt, to conduct its investigation, and to also, despite the possible delay, present its work todate at the HRC's session, this month.
